Fans To Lobby Minister
On Tuesday 19th March a party of four fans will travel to London to lobby the Minister of Sport Richard Caborn for the extension of funding of Supporter groups through ‘Supporters’ Direct’ to rugby league.
This meeting has been made possible through the historic meeting of Warrington Wolves supporters on 23rd January 2002, when Warrington South MP Helen Southworth announced that she would make arrangements for those who were involved with the set up and promotion of the new Supporters’ Trust, which the members of the Warrington Wolves Supporters’ Club voted in favour of at the meeting on 23rd January 2002.
The party leaves for London on the 8.44am train from Warrington Bank Quay Station. The Treasurer of the Supporters’ Club Richard Shanks has requested fans to come and support them by seeing them off on their journey.
The Supporters’ Trust will be the first of its kind in the rugby league world, and in respect we are the pioneers and trailblazers for the whole sport. Let’s make it count.
