3rd Time Lucky?

Tonight marks the start of the 2014 season for the Wolves and we’d like to welcome all Trust Members, as well as supporters of both teams, to the Halliwell Jones.  This season is one of change but also excitement.  Lots of experienced players have moved on to pastures new with the likes of Adrian Morley, Garreth Carvell and club legend Lee Briers taking up new opportunities.  We wish them all well, in particular, Lee Briers who will be working with our young players from this season onwards.  Good luck Lee in your new role!  This means our young players will get their opportunity to shine with the likes of James Laithwaite, Glenn Riley, Gene Ormsby and the returning Kevin Penny given their first team chance.

Last season was the first time since 2008 that we didn’t win any silverware following Cup wins in 2009, 2010 and 2012 and the League Leaders Shield in 2011.  However, we also made the Grand Final in 2012 and 2013.  It really has “always been our year” for the last 5!  Here’s hoping that in 2014, we can make it 3rd time lucky in Grand Finals.  It wasn’t that long ago that making the playoffs and beating tonight’s opponents St Helens was an achievement – the fact that we take these two things for granted now shows how far we have come!

Here’s to another great season in 2014.
